1. 가격통제 - price controls. Ex. 정부는 두류, 쇠고기, 돼지고기, 판유리, 계란 등 5개의 생활필수품에 관한 가격통제를 해제하였다. The government has removed price controls on five daily necessities - corn, meat, pork, flat glass and eggs.
2. 가격평준화제도 - stabilized price system. Ex. 농산물 가격평준화제도를 마련하다. provide stabilized price system for the farm products.
3. 가격표시제 - price-tag system. Ex, 가격표시제를 적용하다. apply the price-tag system.
4. 가계 - [가정경제]를 말할 때는 household(=domestic) economy, [생계]를 말할 때는 living; livelihood. [가계부]는 house-keeping(=domestic) account-book.
5. 가동 - operation. [가동율] operation rate. Ex. 수출산업의 가동율 저조 the slump(slow-down) in operation of the export industry.
6. 가석방 - release on parole. [가석방하다] parole.
7. 가수요 - spuculative demand. Ex. 주로 심리적 영향과 소비자들의 ~로 인해 쌀을 포함한 일용품 가격이 지난 며칠 동안 크게 상승했다. Largely because of the psychological effect and speculative demand by consumers, prices of daily necessities, including rice, have gone up considerably in the last few days.
8. 가정법원 - a family dispute(=difference), quarrel between man and wife. [가정비극] a tragedy in a family. [가정의 행복] domestic felicity. [가정재판소] the Family Court, [가정교육] home(=family) education, [가정상비약] house medicine.
9. 가정의 날 - Family Day. Ex. 매달 마지막 토요일은 가정의 날로 지정하다. designate the last Saturday of every month as Family Day.
10. (남북한) 가족찾기운동 - campaign of searching for seperated families (in South and North Korea); campaign to search for separated families (in both South and North)
11. 각성제 - pep pill. sleep-preventing drug. Ex. 보사부는 현재 학생들 간에 많이 사용하고 있는 각성제 판매에 관한 법률을 작성하였다. The Health-Social Affaris Ministr has worked out a law bill concerning of sleep-preventing drugs that are widely used among pupils.
12. 간이 인구조사 - summary population census. Ex. 정부는 10월 1일을 기해 간이 인구조사를 실시하다. The government will conduct a summary population census on October 1.
13. 간접비 - indirect cost, overhead cost, overhead. Ex. 그 회사는 간접비로 300만 원을 책정했다. The company has earmarked(set aside) 3 million won for overhead cost.
14. 간접침략 - subversive activity; indirect invasion. Ex. 최근 일본은 남한 보수주의자를 자극함으로써 한반도를 경제침략이라는 간접침략으로 그들의 전략을 바꾸었다. Japan has recently reshaped their policy into indirect invasion of so-called economy invasion by provoking conservatives in South Korea.
15. 감전 - an electric shock. [감전되다] receive an electric shock, be struck by electricity. Ex. 그는 전주에서 고압선에 감전 즉사했다: He was instantly killed by an electric shock on an electric pole.
16. 강경파 - tough-line faction; hard-line faction; tough elements; diehards; hawks, a hard-liner. cf. [온건파] moderate-line, moderate elements, the doves, a soft-liner.
17. 강매 - hard sell; high-pressure selling. Ex. 모두 강매에 화를 냈다: Everyone was angry at the hard sell.
18. 강우전선 - rain front. Ex. 강우전선이 다시 접근하여 전국의 기상을 지배하고 있다. 중앙관상대는 이 강우전선으로 인해 우리나라는 2, 3일 더 산발적인 비가 내리겠다고 발표했다: The rain front has returned and is now dominating the nations weather. Due to the rain front, the country will see scattered rain for several more days, the Central Meterological Office said.
19. 개각 - the reshuffle(=reorganization) of the Cabinet. Ex. 2, 3 일 내에 개각이 있을 것이라고 정부소식통에서 말했다: The Government sources said that the Cabinet would be reorganized in a few days.
20. 개발금융 - development export. Ex. 농림부는 농민들의 수입을 중가시키기 위해 농어산물의 개발수출을 장려하겠다고 발표했다: The Ministry of Agriculture-Forestry said that the government will boost development exports of agricultural and fisheries products to help increase farmer's income.
