산업, 경제 - 102

근년에 와서 우리나라의 산업이 경이적으로 발전하자 인구가 비정상적으로 대도시에 집중하게 되었다. 그 결과 도시에 사는 주민들은 심신양면으로 비위생적인 환경에서 살도록 강요받고 있다.

 

<표현 연구>

• 근년에 와서 - in recent(late) years.
• 우리나라의 산업이 경이적으로 발전했다 - the industry of our country has developed(grown) remarkably; ([우리나라 산업의 경이적인 발전]처럼 명사구로 고치면)  the remarkable development of our industry; the remarkable growth of the industry of our country.
• 인구가 대도시로 집중하다 - ([인구의 도시집중]처럼 명사구로 고쳐서 정리하면) a concentration of population in large(big) cities; the cityward drifting pf population; the gravitation of population toward(s) large cities; the drift of population to large cities; an influx of people into cities; (주어 + 동사 구조의 문장으로 나타내면) people (in the provinces) flow into urban areas; large cities rapidly grow in population.

<구문 연구>

1. 첫 문장은 [우리나라 산업의 경이적인 발전]을 주어로 하고 술어를 [초래하다](bring about; result in)처럼 하여 타동사 구문으로 한다. 시제는 현재완료가 적절하다.
2. 둘째 sentence는 [도시에 사는 주민들]을 주어로 하여 are forced to ~; are compelled to ~ 따위로 연결한다.
