재해, 질병 - 29

 

최근에 부산에서 있었던 미공군 젯트기 추락사고로 죽은 11명의 희생자 가족측에서는 보상금으로 9천만원을 요청했다고 한다. 이들은 각 사망자마다 3백만원 내지 7백만원을 요구했으며 또한 동 사고로 부상을 입은 다섯 사람에 대한 보상금도 청구할 계획으로 있는 것 같다.

미공군 젯트기 추락사고 : the crash of an American jet aircraft, the crash of a jet aircraft of the United States Air Force. <추락>은 a fall, an accidental fall 로도 쓴다. Ex.  비행기 추락사고로 죽다 : be killed in a fall(in a plane crash).

 

보상금으로 ~ 을 요구하다 : claim ~ (ask, demand) in compensation, ask ~ compensation (for).

 

3백만원 내지 7백만우너 : (from) three million to seven million won, between three million and seven million won.

 

부상을 입다 : get(be) injured, be wounded, suffer an injury, get hurt. <동사고로> 는 in the accident 가 되는 점에 주의할 것. Ex. 그 사고로 10명이 부상을 입었다. Ten (persons) were injured in the accident.

 

~ 할 계획으로 있다 : plan to ~ , intend to ~ , think of ~ ing, be going to ~ .

 

(구문 연구)

 

1. 첫 문장에서는 a, <가족> (the families of ~ )를 주어로 한다. <~ 로 죽은 11명의 희샹자의> 가 the families 를 꾸미는 말이 된다. 즉, the families of 1 victims(who were) killed in ... 이 된다. 동사는 <요청했다>가 된다. b.  문장을 약간 풀어서 <최근에 추락사고로 11명이 죽었는데 그 가족측에서는 ~ >처럼 써보는 연습도 해봄직하다. < ~ 했다고 한다>라는 표현이 있으므로 <It is reported that ~ > 를 문미로 놓든가, 아니면 reports said 를문미로 둔다. 또는 주어 다음에 동사 reportedly 를 삽입해도 된다.

 

2. 둘째번 문장은 두 부분으로 나누어 간추려도 되고 또한 and 로 연결된 단일 문장이라도 크게 복잡하지는 않다. < ~으로 있는 것 같다> 부분을 살리려면 seem to ~ or  It seems that they ~ 를 이용한다.
